In a heartwarming display of community support and generosity, Catholic Charities of Southwest Kansas recently received a generous gift from Communities Organizing to Promote Equity (COPE). This is the second time that Catholic Charities has been honored with such an award, thanks to the nomination by Flor Sanchez, our local liaison for COPE.
Brittaney Fox Bennett and Lori Titsworth, staff members in the Great Bend office, were thrilled to go shopping for our non-food pantry with the funds provided by COPE. Their shopping spree resulted in a bounty of essential personal and household items, including 12 bars of soap, 9 baby bottles, 50 razors, 12 cans of Comet, 6 bottles of baby wash, and much more. Brittaney Fox Bennett expressed gratitude, saying, "Our award bought us a wide range of necessities, enabling us to further serve the needs of our community."
Our non-food pantry plays a vital role in providing essential items to individuals and families in need across all our Catholic Charities offices. The Great Bend pantry is open every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoon from 1 to 5 pm, offering items like shampoo, conditioner, baby wipes, diapers, laundry soap, and more to those who need them most.
COPE's mission is to address the root causes of health inequities and improve health outcomes by building community power and advocating for policy change. Their support is instrumental in helping organizations like ours create significant impact and positive change in the community.
