Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship (en Español) is a teaching document on the political responsibility of Catholics prepared by the Catholic bishops of the United States. The document provides guidance for Catholics regarding the exercise of their rights and duties as participants in our democracy. More specifically, the document seeks to form consciences, instruct, contribute to civil and respectful public dialogue and to shape political choices in the coming election in light of Catholic teaching. As faithful Catholics and American citizens, we are participants with rights and duties in the civil order.
